Lipofilling and Breast Lipofilling

For several years now, fat is no longer discarded but instead reused as a filler or volumizing product. Indeed, fat injection helps fill wrinkles and folds, compensate for the loss of fatty and bone volume that occurs with facial aging, and increase the volume of breasts and buttocks using the patient's own tissues.

Additionally, Dr. Zirak has developed a technique for reducing vaginal size through lipofilling, significantly enhancing sensations during sexual activity. Regarding breasts, the goal is to achieve volume enhancement without the use of implants. Note that for any patient over the age of 35, Dr. Zirak requires a mammogram before the operation.

The fat is harvested using a special suction technique. It is then either rinsed or centrifuged and finally reinjected.

This technique poses no oncological risk if performed according to best practices. On the face, postoperative swelling (edema) is often present for four to five days.

TECHNIQUE

Fat is preferably harvested from the inner thighs or lower abdomen, but it can be taken from anywhere on the body. It is processed (rinsed or centrifuged) to be reinjected into the target area using fine cannulas.

This procedure of fat harvesting and reinjection (lipofilling) is performed in a day clinic under sedation or light anesthesia and lasts between one and three hours, depending on the volume to be injected.

POST-OPERATIVE CARE

The injected areas are almost painless, whereas the areas where fat was harvested are often sore and show bruising.

The pain subsides within a few days, and the bruising disappears in two to three weeks.

After six weeks, the results are evaluated. If the outcome is insufficient, the patient may opt for additional injection sessions.

The sutures from the 4 to 5 mm scars are removed after one week.

Massages and lymphatic drainage will be prescribed by Dr. Zirak.

RESULTS

The results are immediately visible, but their stability over time is achieved between 1.5 and 3 months after the injection. A small proportion of the injected fat does not hold. However, the majority that does hold remains permanent, provided a stable weight is maintained thereafter.

At the end of the treatment, the result is completely natural and long-lasting.

FAQ

Is it a very painful operation?
No, it is not considered a very painful operation. Only the donor areas feel like they have been bruised. In any case, Dr. Zirak will prescribe appropriate painkillers for you.

Are there any specific risks related to the injection site?
No, as long as the injection avoids the mammary gland, there is no risk of causing breast cancer. Moreover, our radiologist colleagues can easily distinguish between micro-calcifications caused by lipofilling and those caused by breast cancer.

Is there a risk of fat rejection?
No, this does not exist because it is tissue belonging to the person themselves.

Is there a risk for breastfeeding?
No, like breast augmentation with implants, breast lipofilling does not interfere with a person's breastfeeding abilities.

Are there specific risks associated with this technique?
Yes, some of the fat may suffer, liquefy, and another part may harden and die (cyto-steato-necrosis). It is not serious, but sometimes it is necessary to remove this mass if it has not disappeared through the massages and injections that Dr. Zirak will offer you.

Does the fat melt away after some time?
No. Thanks to the refinement of the technique, an increasingly smaller portion of the injected fat is eliminated. However, the fat that remains does not melt unless the person loses weight.

Which areas can be treated with lipofilling?
The face (temples, cheekbones, nasolabial folds, lips, facial contour), hands, breasts, buttocks, penis, and vagina.

Are there possible complications?
Yes, there can be an infection, which is why you will receive antibiotics during the operation, and Dr. Zirak will prescribe them for you afterward; a hematoma (blood collection), which is why vasoconstrictive products will be injected during the procedure.
