Breast Reduction (Mammoplasty)

Breast hypertrophy (excessively large and sagging breasts) causes back pain, discomfort in clothing, difficulties in practicing certain sports, and challenges in maintaining eye contact. Mammoplasty helps reduce breast volume and lift them to rejuvenate and achieve a harmonious chest appearance. After such a procedure, breastfeeding capability is largely preserved.

TECHNIQUE

Prior to the procedure, Dr. Zirak will prescribe a preoperative mammogram and blood test.

Breast reduction is a breast surgery procedure that typically lasts two to three hours, performed under general anesthesia and during hospitalization. The size of the areolas will be adjusted to harmonize with the future breast size. The larger the volume to be reduced and the more significant the breast ptosis (sagging), the greater the number of scars. This systematically begins with a periareolar scar, which may be accompanied by a vertical scar and finally an inframammary scar.

The hospitalization duration of two to three days depends on the output of the drains placed at the end of the procedure.

POST-OPERATIVE CARE

Post-operative pain is very moderate. The hospitalization duration is two to three days. Temporary loss of sensation occurs due to the operation. Stitches are removed after three weeks. The final result is achieved after three to six months. The final appearance of scars is obtained after two years.

Dr. Zirak will provide a series of recommendations to achieve the best possible scars.
