Facial Lifting (Facelift, Rhytidectomy)
The facelift is a cosmetic surgery technique aimed at repositioning tissues for facial rejuvenation. It is important to note that this procedure is not intended to reduce expression lines. However, the wrinkled appearance of the skin will be effectively treated.
Contrary to popular belief, one does not need to wait until the age of 60 or older to undergo such procedures. Indeed, around the age of 45 or 50, the skin quality is still good enough to achieve not only rejuvenation but also an enhancement of facial appearance.
Various techniques exist to address the multitude of situations encountered. For instance, we can mention the "Frontal Lifting," "Temporal Lifting," "Mid-Face Lifting," and "Cervico-Facial Lifting."
To ensure the longevity of the aesthetic result, it is important to understand that the skin (which has lost its elasticity) should not be pulled. Instead, the underlying structures (SMAS) that are connected to the skin should be tightened, and the excess skin should be removed. In this way, Dr. Zirak avoids the "lifted" facial effect and ensures a lasting final result.
INDICATIONS
- A gaze that appears too "closed and severe," meaning eyebrows that are positioned too low, will be treated with an "endoscopic frontal lift."
- A "closed and sad" gaze, meaning a drooping lateral eyebrow tail, will be treated with a "temporal lift."
- Aging in the central part of the face, with pronounced nasolabial folds, drooping corners of the mouth, and the presence of jowls, will be treated with a "mid-face lift."
- Aging of the face and neck will be treated with a "cervico-facial lift."
TECHNIQUES
These procedures are performed under general anesthesia in a day hospital (One Day Clinic). Saline solution combined with a vasoconstrictor is injected under the skin to minimize bleeding and swelling. These operations last between one hour for a frontal lift and three hours for a cervico-facial lift.
They can be combined with eyelid surgery and/or fat injections aimed at compensating not only for tissue sagging but also for bone and fat loss.
The aesthetic scars are placed in such a way as to be almost invisible.
The results are immediately visible, but postoperative swelling (edema due to the procedure) requires social downtime of 10 to 14 days. The final aesthetic result is achieved after three to six months.
POST-OPERATIVE CARE
A bandage is left in place for one week. It is removed along with the facial sutures. From this point, the person can take showers. These procedures are not known to be painful. However, in the case of a frontal lift, it should be noted that a sensation of tightness may persist for two to three weeks.
In the second postoperative week, the sutures in the scalp are removed.
Thanks to a series of preoperative measures taken by Dr. Zirak, postoperative swelling (edema) lasts about ten days, and bruises (ecchymoses) disappear after two weeks (rarely three).
The operated areas are numb for several weeks or even months.
After two weeks, no one will notice that the person has undergone surgery. However, the final result, in terms of tissue suppleness and complete resolution of the edema, will only be achieved after three to six months.
