Post-Bariatric Surgery - The Breasts

The breasts primarily lose volume in the upper poles and sag to varying degrees. They are covered with stretch marks, indicating poor skin quality.

The treatment involves a breast lift (mastopexy) and/or the placement of breast implants.

The procedure is performed under general anesthesia on an outpatient basis. Social downtime lasts about ten days. Stitches are removed after two weeks. A special bra must be worn day and night for six weeks. Sports activities can be resumed after six weeks. Final results will be visible after three to six months. Rare complications include wound dehiscence (opening), infection, or hematoma. In the specific case of post-bariatric surgery, it is important to note the almost systematic occurrence of secondary skin relaxation due to poor skin quality. Post-operative pain is very moderate and lasts only three to four days.
