Post-Bariatric Surgery - Arms

Massive weight loss often results in unsightly excess skin.

Arm lift surgery is performed under general anesthesia on an outpatient basis.

The scars are located in the axillary hollow and along the inner side of the arm (bicipital groove).

This procedure has a high rate of healing issues; the warm and humid environment of the axillary hollow is not very conducive to smooth healing.

The longitudinal scar along the arm is perpendicular to the skin's tension lines (which are transverse to the limb's axis). It will therefore always tend to widen.

The procedure is not painful. A transient swelling of the hand and forearm is common.

Sports activities are prohibited for six weeks.

Final results are achieved after three to six months.
