Intimate cosmetic surgery: who is it for, why consider it, and at what cost
Summary of the interview on intimate cosmetic surgery

FOR HER:
Female intimate cosmetic surgery addresses both physical and psychological needs.
- Labiaplasty (or nymphoplasty) reduces the size of the labia minora to relieve discomfort (irritation, pain during intercourse or sports activities) or concerns related to their appearance. Performed under local or general anesthesia, this procedure is minimally painful, well tolerated, leaves no visible scars, and preserves sensitivity, often improving intimate comfort.
- Vulvar lipofilling restores volume and firmness to the labia majora, which often become atrophied with age, through reinjection of fat taken from the patient. This aesthetic and painless procedure under local anesthesia offers a definitive result after one or two sessions, with rare risks when properly performed.
- Vaginoplasty, a vaginal "lifting", tightens the vaginal opening loosened by age or childbirth, reducing incontinence and improving pleasure. It requires general anesthesia and a recovery period of four to six weeks. Finally, non-invasive treatments such as laser therapy can relieve vaginal atrophy (dryness, pain), with results that vary from one patient to another.
FOR HIM:
Male procedures, detailed by Dr Christophe Zirak, aim to improve appearance and self-confidence.
- Penile girth enhancement increases the diameter of the shaft through injections of hyaluronic acid (performed in the clinic, temporary effect lasting about one year, more prone to side effects) or autologous fat (surgery under general anesthesia, permanent results, gain of 3 to 5 cm in circumference). The latter method, although more invasive, does not affect erection or pleasure, which are often improved, and strengthens patient confidence.
- Penile lengthening, which involves cutting the ligaments to allow the penis to extend outward (gain of 2 to 4 cm at rest), addresses the concerns of about one third of men, despite an often average size. This procedure, performed under general anesthesia, requires a six-week recovery period without sexual or sports activity, with a strict protocol (smoking cessation, penile positioning).
- Complications are rare, and the results, although limited to the flaccid state, have a significant psychological impact. These costly surgeries (ranging from hundreds to several thousand euros, not reimbursed) require thorough evaluation to avoid requests influenced by unrealistic standards.
